Study on the perception of nonlinguistic information of noise-vocoded speech under noise and/or reverberation conditions

چکیده
It has been known that noise and reverberation greatly affect the perception of linguistic information, in particular speech intelligibility. However, effect on non-linguistic information not clarified. We investigated how these types disturbances (speaker individuality vocal emotion) noise-vocoded speech. conducted speaker-distinction vocal-emotion-recognition experiments using created from noisy, reverberation, noisy reverberant environments as stimuli. used seven conditions (signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) = ∞,20,15,10,5,0,−5 dB) six (reverberation time (TR) 0.0,0.1,0.3,0.5,1.0,2.0 s). In both experiments, main effects were significant, but interaction was significant. From results, except for extremely poor sound conditions, under daily (an SNR more than 10 dB TR less 1.0 s), there no significant reverberation.

Effect of signal to noise ratio on the speech perception ability of older adults
Background: Speech perception ability depends on auditory and extra-auditory elements. The signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is an extra-auditory element that has an effect on the ability to normally follow speech and maintain a conversation. Speech in noise perception difficulty is a common complaint of the elderly. In this study, the importance of SNR magnitude as an extra-auditory effect on speech...
متن کاملToddlers' recognition of noise-vocoded speech.
Despite their remarkable clinical success, cochlear-implant listeners today still receive spectrally degraded information. Much research has examined normally hearing adult listeners' ability to interpret spectrally degraded signals, primarily using noise-vocoded speech to simulate cochlear implant processing. Far less research has explored infants' and toddlers' ability to interpret spectrally...

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
Speech perception through FM auditory trainers in noise and reverberation.
Speech perception through FM auditory trainers was explored in conditions of noise and reverberation. Special attention was paid to the mode of transmission and individual capabilities of various commercially-available units to handle speech in noise and reverberation. Results indicate an overwhelming advantage of FM transmission for maintaining speech intelligibility in noise and reverberation...
متن کاملWord segmentation from noise-band vocoded speech
Spectral degradation reduces access to the acoustics of spoken language and compromises how learners break into its structure. We hypothesised that spectral degradation disrupts word segmentation, but that listeners can exploit other cues to restore detection of words. Normalhearing adults were familiarised to artificial speech that was unprocessed or spectrally degraded by noise-band vocoding ...
